Integrative Play Therapy

Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.
- Fred Rogers

Our therapists utilize a warm, supportive, playful approach that allows children to feel at ease. Play therapy is a proven therapeutic modality that allows children ages 3-11 to grow, learn, heal and thrive. Children often do not have the verbal abilities to express their feelings. Play therapy, conducted by one of our trained play therapists, offers children the opportunity to process and assess appropriate coping skills, behaviors and worldviews. At IMPACT we provide integrative play therapy for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties, coping with family conflict, and trauma. Our play therapists utilize a range of psychotherapy approaches including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems interventions. We will work with your family to strengthen relationships between children, parents, and siblings and provide you with tools to support your child’s growth and development.

Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

For older children and adolescents, our clinicians provide psychotherapy services that draw from multiple theoretical approaches. Treatment is tailored to your child’s unique needs and integrates cognitive behavioral, family systems, dialectical behavior therapy, and psychodynamic interventions. At IMPACT we also emphasize the importance of culture and identity in all of our work. Every therapy is rooted in supporting the development of a strong sense of self and an ability to navigate the complex social environments of school and community.

Groups

We offer a rotating sequence of groups for elementary-aged children, as well as middle and high schoolers. The groups at IMPACT are facilitated by skilled therapists with expertise in child development, social-emotional learning, and group dynamics. Children and adolescents gain support from a therapist and the social support of peers who are struggling with some of the same challenges. Groups are generally centered around a specific focus and have included topics such as:

  • Social anxiety and social skills

  • Coping with divorce

  • LGBTQIA+ support

  • Emotion regulation in challenging times

  • Mindfulness based stress reduction

  • Digital health

  • Friend or frenemy? Establishing healthy relationship boundaries
